Frequently asked questions
General
Psychotherapy is a collaborative process where we work together to understand your thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and patterns. Therapy can help you cope with distress, process past experiences, build emotional regulation, and develop healthier ways of relating to yourself and others. Sessions are tailored to your needs and goals.
I work with adults experiencing a range of concerns, including:
• Anxiety and mood disorders
• ADHD and executive functioning challenges
• Trauma and complex trauma
• Borderline personality traits
• Self-esteem and identity concerns
• Grief and loss
• 2SLGBTQIA+mental health
• Immigrant and racialized mental health
My work is trauma-informed, relational, and integrative. I draw from evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT, emotion-focused, psychodynamic, and mindfulness-based therapies. The approach is always adapted to you rather than one size fits all.
The standard fee for individual psychotherapy is $150 per 50-minute session.
Payment is due at the time of the session.
A limited number of sliding scale spots are available only for clients who are eligible based on financial need.
Sliding scale is considered for individuals who:
• Are full-time students
• Are currently unemployed or underemployed
• Are experiencing significant financial hardship
• Do not have access to insurance coverage
Sliding scale rates are discussed during the consultation. Availability is limited and not guaranteed.
Many extended health insurance plans cover psychotherapy with a Registered Social Worker. Coverage varies by provider, so it is important to check with your insurance company directly.
After each session, you will receive a receipt that you can submit for reimbursement.
At this time, I do not offer direct billing. Clients are responsible for submitting receipts to their insurance provider.
Sessions are offered:
• Virtually across Ontario
• In person in Toronto
Virtual sessions are conducted through secure, privacy-compliant platforms.
Standard individual sessions are 50 minutes. Session frequency is discussed collaboratively and may be weekly, bi-weekly, or adjusted based on your needs.
The first session focuses on understanding what brought you to therapy, your current concerns, and what you hope to work on. We will also review consent, confidentiality, and any questions you have.
You do not need to prepare anything in advance.
No. A diagnosis is not required to begin therapy. Many people seek therapy for distress, life transitions, identity concerns, or patterns they want to understand better.
If a diagnosis is relevant, it can be discussed collaboratively.
No. As a Registered Social Worker, I do not prescribe medication. If medication support is part of your care, I can collaborate with your physician or psychiatrist if appropriate.
Finding the right fit matters. I offer a free 15-minute consultation so you can ask questions, share what you are looking for, and see if working together feels right.
There is no pressure to commit after the consultation.
I require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or missed sessions may be charged the full session fee, as this time is reserved specifically for you.
Yes. Therapy is confidential and protected by professional and legal standards. There are a few limits to confidentiality, such as risk of harm to yourself or others, which will be explained clearly during the first session.
At this time, my practice primarily focuses on individual psychotherapy for adults. Please reach out if you have questions about fit.
You can book a free 15-minute consultation through the Book Online page or contact me directly. From there, we can discuss next steps.
